At the November business meeting, our very generous members show up with donated items for the Veterans living at the Vets Place. On Thursday, November 18th we had the opportunity to visit the Veteran's living at the facility. Each of the 24 vets got twin sheets/a blanket and custom knitted hats by Pam's mom. The plastic container below the hat held a pair of socks/candy and personal toiletries. These containers were so well stuffed, the lid sits below the container, while the container overflows. In addition we brought the vets an abundance of hygienic items, socks, underwear, undershirts along with other needed things. We were able to bring to these gentlemen, home baked cup cakes/cookies/pizza/garlic knots & soda.
The men were so grateful to say the least. What you see here are the decorated items they were each presented with. One of our members shown was able to bring 3 televisions that the men will make use of.
Thank you also to Holiday Inn Express, East Wind Hotel and Emerald Island janitorial supplies for your donation!!!!
So ladies, THANK YOU for all you do for everyone else! Miller Place Homemakers are the best!!!!!

2010 Cookie Exchange

December 1 was our 1st cookie exchange in quite a few years.
We had 22 members come out to join in the festivities. We wore our favorite baking apron, we all brought a minimum of 2 dozen cookies, shared the recipe, played games, enjoyed refreshments and listened to Chirstmas music. All Attendees received a cook book full of all the recipes each member submitted. We really had a wonderful relaxing evening and no doubt, are looking forward to next years exchange.

Joyce & Eileen receive quilts!

Both these ladies had sons serving in the military & we are thrilled they have their loved ones safely home with them. They were chosen to have quilts made for them to show the appreciation of the Miller Place Homemaker for our Military.
It was the military that first got the "Sunshine Sisters" into action. Thank you to all those that participated in the making of these beautiful quilts!
